Jim Dickerson began his athletic training career as a student athletic trainer under Sayers Miller, Jr. Upon graduation from Ball State University, he was the first student to pursue a career in the athletic training profession. After three years at Miami University in Ohio, two years at University of Maine and one year at Kent State University, Dickerson came home to Indiana for the next 16 years to serve as athletic trainer and curriculum director at Ball State University. While at Ball State, Dickerson served as the Indiana State Representative to the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association and served on many professional committees. Jim left the university work setting to become a sales manager for Cramer Products in Kansas and later became part owner of Medco Supply in Muncie until he retired. He has been honored by Ball State by having the outstanding senior sports medicine graduate award named after him.
